Recycling Program
Missouri CompuDoc functions as a collection service and does not carry out the actual recycling of electronics. We instead collect items for recycling and handle the initial processing and delivery of the items to their appropriate recycling and donation facilities. Most items can be recycled for free. However, groups of more than 5 large items (computers, monitors, TVs, etc) will incur a transportation fee. Please contact us for a quote.
We currently accept:
- Computers
- Monitors and TVs
- Hard Drives, CDs, and DVDs
- Mice and Keyboards
- Printers
- Cell Phones
- Stereo Systems
- VCRs
- DVD Players
We DO NOT accept:
- Scanners
- Copiers
- Fax Machines
- Tapes
- Floppy Disks
- ZIP Disks
- Home Appliances
Monitors and TVs
CRT/LCD/TFT monitors and TVs are classified as hazardous waste and thus carry a $10 recycling fee per item. The fee is passed directly to the recycling facility.
Monitors and TVs over 40 inches are NOT accepted, nor are console TVs.
Hard Drives, CDs, and DVDs
Due to the complexity and cost of securely wiping data, all hard drives, CDs, and DVDs will be physically destroyed using the methods outlined below before being delivered to the recycling facility. The recycling facility itself may also carry out destructive processes such as degaussing.
Hard Drives
Four holes will be drilled in the drive and the platter will be severely scratched to ensure that it cannot spin and no data can be retrieved.
CDs and DVDs
All CDs and DVDs will be shredded.
